Acting Out the Photo Scavenger Hunt List

A different way of playing a photo scavenger hunt is by listing a set of acting tasks. Instead of taking pictures of objects you can have your hunters act out everything that is written in the list and take a picture of it with their cameras.

Movie scenes are a good example. You can use famous lines from movies and have the players act them out using their own interpretation. One for example is a line from the movie Spiderman: “With great power comes great responsibility”. You will surely have several different interpretations of this particular movie line at the end of the photo scavenger hunt.

To have more options and to be more fun, this photo scavenger hunt is best done in groups of three to six. As for the interpretation, anything goes. Since the goal of the photo scavenger hunt is for the players to have fun, they can fool around while doing the acting, just as long as they are still interpreting the lines.

A time limit should be set for completing the list. When the time runs out, the teams will have to meet and turn up their photos which could be printed out or viewed directly from the digital camera LCD. Winners will then be determined. Special acting awards should also be given to outstanding or amusing poses.

Nature Scavenger Hunt

An awesome idea for a Photo Scavenger Hunt is the Nature Scavenger Hunt. In this Photo Scavenger Hunt, participants don’t only take pictures of things in random but the things that can be seen in nature. This will lead to the further appreciation of the beauty of the world around us. Thus, this is a perfect activity for kids to be engaged in.

Now, you have to know the specific location where you will have your participants perform all the tasks. It could be in your backyard, a park or any open field. You must know what to see in that particular place for it wouldn’t be fun if what you listed for them to find wasn’t present in that area. It follows that you should also consider the time, season and the environmental factors during your Photo Scavenger Hunt.

You must set predetermined points for each object to look for. For example, a photo of a Sunflower is equivalent to only 3 points, if you know it’s prevalent in that area. A dragonfly could be worth 50, considering it is way harder to capture. It is up to you to create the list. Again, remember to consider every factor that needs to be considered before putting any object on the list.

Give each participant/group the list of objects with their corresponding points. When the time you set is up, the game is over and the winner is determined by counting the scores earned.

Photo Scavenger Hunt – An alternative for Christmas

A photo scavenger hunt is a fun alternative to the traditional way we play the scavenger hunt.  Instead of just ticking off every item we find on the list, we can take photos of them or utilize the photos themselves as a list.

This game can be played using any camera. Digital cameras, disposable ones and even cell phone cameras can be used for the hunt.  The first obvious way of doing this is to take photos of the items you want found.

To make the game more interesting you can make different sets of photos of different items for each of your teams or players.  These photos will take the place of the conventional list.  Once the game has ended you can opt to develop the disposable cameras to check them. Or if you are using the camera phone or a digital camera you can save costs by plugging them in your computer for checking or simply browse through the saved images.

A variation of the game would be to look for the items using the photos.  Take pictures of various things you want and then distribute these photos to your teams or players.  Again, you may or may not give them the same photos.

You can hold a photo scavenger hunt indoors or outdoors.  You can include some things which would be hard to take a photo of like your neighbor’s bathroom or his basement.  Wherever this game may be held it is sure to be a barrel of laughs.
